Union Station is the centralized hub of Los Angeles' rail transit system, with inter-city Amtrak service, commuter Metrolink, subway Metrorail, several local transit bus lines, downtown DASH shuttles, and waterfront trolleys. The station is located north of the Santa Ana Freeway, near the Metropolitan Water District. Union Station was built in 1939 and is considered to be "The last of America's great rail stations."
